By The truth is that there are far more questions than answers about where we come from and how we got here. Many of the people we pass down through life seem to be shaped by our experiences and by ideas that we have absorbed from our parents, friends, etc.
How we acquire knowledge is a tough question to answer. The way that you get it and what it means to you are two completely separate questions. We can think of two very different examples of people that we know personally that are answerable to us.
There’s a lot of stuff going on in our world today, and we don’t want to be the only ones. But we have to learn how to do it. And we can do it.
I have a great friend who is the same age as me. She was the first person I knew who was an atheist. She was very open about that and told me when I was a very young boy, that she believed in something very important, something that I could understand. She and I have talked about it a few times, and I think that it was her very presence and her example that helped me realize that it was important to me.
I remember reading the book Atheist, by Christopher Hitchens, and thinking, “I could have been that friend of hers if I had been brought up as an atheist. I could have had that experience.” And I am, and I think it was the fact that I had that experience that helped me realize that it was important to me.
You’ve probably already guessed that I’m a huge fan of Christopher Hitchens, and that I am quite certain that atheism was never an option for me, but I think it’s worth highlighting the fact that Hitchens was a bit of a “friend” of mine and that I think it is a pity that he died so young. I think that his death was a bit unfortunate.
Ive never been much of a fan of Hitchens, mostly because i think his ideas about how we can have a better world are just so very wrong. That being said, I had a lot of respect for him in that I liked his work, and I had read a lot of his writing. I was really taken by his books The Bridge at the River of Doubt and The World I Live In.
I think its so unfortunate that Hitchens didn’t have more longevity in this world. He was so much a role model for the younger generation. I think he was a good writer, but I think he was really too nice for his own good. I think he was an arrogant man. A lot of people feel that he was the first person to really make the move into the mainstream that was not a celebrity. I think that is sad.
I think your definition of a “celebrity” is really broad. There was a time when a well-known author would get a book published and would write about those times and the times that he experienced. To me, a celebrity is someone you read about in magazines and read about on the web. A celebrity in our world is someone that everyone talks about.
A celebrity is a type of person who has a lot of influence on the world, but who doesn’t have that much influence. And that is exactly what we were talking about when we said that we were talking about someone who was a celebrity.
