By I was looking through my pictures from pongal kolam 2018 rangoli, and realized that the women in the photo were all wearing the same floral blouse. I was like, I have no idea what happened to bring these girls together, but I wonder if they had to do that in order to get to be at my house.
The point here is that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. When you see a book that looks identical to the previous one, it’s probably because you’ve already read the previous ones. So don’t get a copy of the book thinking that it has to be the same as the previous ones. It’s just something that happens.
I know there are all sorts of books out there that are essentially the same. But in my opinion, books are meant to be different. They can have a lot of similarities, but they shouldnt be identical. The fact that we’re at the same table but we’re not at the same place is a good example.
The same table. The book is meant to be read at the same time as these other books. Its just like a day or two later that youve read the book.
The fact that there are two different books at the same table is what makes it interesting. You can read them in your favorite way, but they might not be the same. They might not be the same story or have the same characters, but they could be different. The fact that they are at the same place at the same time is what makes it a story. They might be the same book, but there could be a different story or characters, or a different plotline.
The next day, we got an email from an old friend of mine, Rajesh, who was a co-worker at a college in Chennai back in the days before the internet. He had been working there since before the internet came to this country. He was wondering if we could join him for a meal at his place and an old friend of his, a couple of other colleagues, and his friends, would all meet us at his place.
The whole idea of this place is that it’s a restaurant for the elderly. Rajesh’s father was a retired senior teacher from Madras and Rajesh’s mother was a retired professor of English. There are no elderly people there, but Rajesh’s friends who are over seventy are seated at the table. There are also a couple of people with very young children, so we’re all probably about the same age.
It didn’t turn out to be a very friendly gathering. Rajesh and his friends don’t seem to have much in common, but at the end of the day, they were all very friendly. The room is dark, so there’s no light in the restaurant, but the mood changes when you look out the windows at the clouds. There is an interesting juxtaposition between the past and the present.
The past is the restaurant. The present is the building. The future is the food. The present is a bunch of people. The future is a bunch of people who are excited to celebrate the end of the year. It is the present, the future, and the past that are not the same reality.
The first few people to walk into the restaurant are the only ones who are aware of what is going to happen. The rest are just sitting there. The building is dark, but there is a light at the far end of the room. At that point, you know it will be a party, and it is. The party is in the middle of the day, and the building is in the middle of the night.
