By To say I’m sad would be an understatement. I was driving home from work when I saw a sign for route 22. I was shocked because I have never been in that area. I knew right away that I would have to take a detour. I pulled off the road and stopped, but I still couldn’t believe there was a sign for route 22. The sign was for a construction site, and the construction site was way too far away.
It’s not a stretch to say that the sign was a bad one, but that is precisely the point. It was a sign for a construction site, but the sign was way too far away. Of course then they took the sign down, and then the sign was back in place only it was far too long to see.
The sign is a great example of the difference between a great sign and a terrible sign. The great sign is for something that should be a “must see”, and the terrible sign is for something that is not really a “must see”. For instance, the terrible sign for a construction site is not a “must see” for someone who is looking to buy a home.
I feel like if we’ve learned anything about signs, it’s that they have a nasty habit of being overused and abused for things that they shouldn’t be used for at all. Like the sign for the construction site, this sign could be a great sign, but it was too long and far away to see and I don’t want to see it ever again. The sign is not a must see.
The sign for the construction site is just a nice place to stand in line. It is an important part of our day, but we don’t need to see it every day. But even if we did, we’d still be in line and just walk up to the building because it’s a sign that says a lot.

To be fair, the sign was also there for at least an hour, so we have no way of knowing how long it stayed on the road. And we never did see the sign again. But that’s okay. It’s a sign.
