I used to be an avid spit-salveer back in the day, but I’ve completely given up on this little trick. It’s a good thing I’m no longer trying to get people to take me seriously, because I can’t help but notice some similarities between my new self and the spitting one.
The spit thing is basically a self-induced headache that makes you feel like you’re going to puke, but that’s only true if you are a person who is used to getting that way. I found that the more I thought about it, the more it made sense, but I still hadn’t fully grasped the concept of how spitting works. I thought my spit was a reflexive reaction that I went to a toilet and took a shit. But if you think about it more, it’s more like spitting when you’re afraid of an enemy, or if you just get nauseous from something you eat.

The problem with this is that if you just keep doing it, you might make things worse. We are used to our own saliva being produced to clean our teeth, but it is also in our saliva that the saliva cells live. If you keep spitting a lot, you might make it worse, and by then it might be harder to control. This is why it is so important to eat more slowly, especially if you don’t usually eat regularly.
I know this is another long and tedious video but trust me, if you keep spitting, you will definitely make things more difficult.
I always find it hard to stay motivated to eat slowly because it is so easy to think, “Well I won’t be tempted to spit all over, so I’m not going to worry about it!” But the truth is that if you spit a lot, it will be harder to control.
Spit is often a sign of weakness and is an indicator of your body’s inability to stop eating. It is also an indicator of when you should make room for a larger meal.
When we use the word “eating,” it reminds us that we should eat at least a few portions per day. But don’t eat that many of those. If you can handle it, you will become just as good as you were at those days.
